The Heart Behind the Hustle: Why I Built Choose You LLC

Growing up in East Harlem as a proud Latina, I was known for my fiery spirit and my voice. That voice—unfiltered and unapologetic—often led me to the dean’s office or heated exchanges. I spoke out when something didn’t feel right, and though my tone was “spicy,” my intentions always came from love. Time and again, I was told, “It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.” Those words stuck with me, shaping my understanding of effective communication and self-advocacy. I realized that expressing yourself effectively wasn’t just about being heard—it was about inspiring action, building trust, and creating meaningful connections.

That lesson became the foundation of my personal and professional growth. From a young age, I immersed myself in community service, leadership opportunities, and building strong relationships with mentors who supported my journey. Even through life’s biggest challenges, my commitment to growth and effective communication kept me grounded and motivated.

At just 19 years old, I found myself pregnant during my first year of college. Many assumed my story would follow the path of a statistic: dropping out, giving up, and letting life’s obstacles dictate my future. But I chose differently. I chose grit. I chose growth. I chose me.

While balancing full-time college, a part-time job, and motherhood, I earned my degree with honors. Later, I pursued a master’s degree while climbing the ranks in my career. By 30, my ability to communicate effectively—whether advocating for myself, navigating difficult conversations, or inspiring teams—helped me become a director. My success as a leader didn’t come from luck; it came from relentless self-development, a willingness to learn, and the ability to connect with people in meaningful ways. I learned that prioritizing myself wasn’t selfish—it was survival. Choosing myself meant creating space for growth, setting boundaries, and aligning my life with my values.

And that’s where Choose You LLC was born.

I created this platform because I’ve lived the struggle of balancing what you want and what you need.  I’ve felt the tug of putting others first, sacrificing my own well-being in the process. I know what it’s like to feel stretched thin, torn between what you want and what others expect. I know how hard it is to make yourself a priority in a world that tells women to put everyone else first.  But I also know the transformation that comes when you take control, advocate for yourself, live intentionally and step into your power.
